Ever since I started writing my own rules (some 40 years ago) I have wanted to do a Samurai set which felt ‘right’ but was easy to play and pick up. I have dabbled with a few sets over the years, writing a set for Wargames Journal, writing add ons for various rule sets but never actually ending up playing them. After writing Flying Lead for Ganesha Games the time seemed right, Ganesha are doing their own ‘Eastern’ set so I set off on my own.
I have done martial arts since I was about 7 and for the last 25 odd years have been studying within the Bujnkan system which encompasses nine Japanese traditional schools of Budou. This has led me to study other western and eastern fighting systems as well and explore various full contact weapons systems … I hope to have bought this experience into the rules. My aim was to produce an easy system which still gave the individual weapons some sort of different feel and way of using them.
Let my know how it feels
